Young Interpreters

The Young Interpreters scheme is a group of trained pupils who take on an official role in supporting their peers. These students act as buddies, offering a friendly and caring presence while demonstrating key school values. They are good listeners, familiar with school routines, and serve as positive role models.

Young Interpreters can be either multilingual or English-speaking and play a vital role in helping other students, particularly those with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Their responsibilities include offering social support during break and lunchtimes; encouraging inclusion in games; giving school tours; demonstrating routines; assisting with communication and helping EYFS EAL pupils with turn-taking through engaging language-based activities.

This initiative fosters a welcoming and supportive school environment, ensuring every student feels included and valued.
