We have a strong commitment to healthy eating at school and we offer a carefully planned healthy and appealing school lunch. Lunches are provided by Aspens, who charge £2.47 for a two-course lunch. Menus are sent home and children can choose daily if they wish to have a hot lunch (with a vegetarian, pasta or jacket potato choice) or a school packed lunch. Children may choose to bring in a packed lunch from home.
The midday supervisors are on hand to help the children at lunchtime. We often have special menus and ‘theme’ meals.

Universal Infant Free School Meals
September 2014 saw the introduction of Universal Infant Free School Meals where Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children can have a FREE balanced hot meal or school packed lunch.
For Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 3 – 6). Payment should be made via our online payment system ParentMail.
Home Packed Lunches
Children bringing in a packed lunch from home require a named sandwich box and plastic container for cold drinks. No glass bottles, cans or fizzy drinks should be sent in. It is helpful if spoons for yogurts, puddings etc and non-plastic straws for drinks, if required, could be sent in the child’s lunchbox. Hot drinks and pull-top cans of desserts are also not allowed because they could be dangerous. In accordance with our healthy eating policy, children should not bring sweets in their lunch box. No products containing peanuts should be sent in with the children to eat as we have some children with severe allergies. We appreciate your co-operation with this, as this can be very dangerous to those children. It can affect some children if they smell it or come into contact with another child who has eaten it and can be fatal.
Special Meals
Special meals are available on request for children on restricted diets. If your child has to follow a special diet, please see the school office or kitchen manager.
Allergens
On 13th December 2014, new legislation (the EU Food Information Regulations for Consumers 1169/2011) required food businesses (restaurants, cafes and catering outlets including schools) to provide allergy information on food sold unpackaged.
As providers of our school meals, Aspens has produced a list of the 14 food allergens that need to be identified if they are used as ingredients in our hot meals, school packed lunches or snacks. These are: celery, cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs, mustard, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, soya and sulphur dioxide. This information will be available via a link on our school website and available from the school office or school kitchen.
Free School Meals
If you are on income support, universal credit or income-based job seekers allowance, you may be entitled to free school meals for your child. Please come into the school office for further information on qualifying figures. All information is treated in the strictest of confidence.
