Flourishing Futures Programme

At Harleston Sancroft Academy, our Flourishing Futures programme is dedicated to expanding horizons, raising aspirations, and equipping our students with the skills and experiences they need to thrive in the modern world. Driven by our school vision of “Life in all its Fullness,” this initiative connects classroom learning with real-world ambition.  Our aim is to introduce students to their own potential by celebrating their successes and facilitating opportunities outside of the classroom to experience the world in a way that ignites passions and grows aspirations.

We are incredibly grateful to our community partners, local businesses, and individual donors whose generosity makes these life-changing opportunities possible through donations of time, expertise and/or money.

🏛️ Flourishing Futures Adventures

Our trips are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and introduce students to diverse career pathways and cultural experiences. Thanks to our funding partners, we have already been able to take our students on some truly remarkable journeys:

• Cambridge University: A day inspiring academic ambition, where students explored historic colleges, attended lectures, met with undergraduates, and got a real taste of life at a world-class university.
• UK Houses of Parliament Tour: A fascinating trip to the heart of British democracy in London. Students walked the halls of Westminster, learned about the legislative process, and developed their leadership and citizenship skills.
• The Globe Theatre: Bringing literature to life! Our students experienced the magic of Shakespeare in his element, engaging with world-class theatre production and performance workshops.
• Maths Masterclasses: A series of stretching, interactive sessions designed to challenge our young mathematicians, uncovering the beauty and real-world applications of advanced mathematics.

Planned events for the next academic year include:

• Macbeth ‘Play in a Day’ Workshop (Norwich Theatre Royal): Step into the spotlight and bring Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy to life! In this fast-paced, high-energy drama workshop, students will work alongside theatre professionals to dissect, rehearse, and perform Macbeth—all in a single day. Perfect for building confidence, teamwork, and a deeper love for literature and the stage.
• 5-Day South Coast Sailing Residential (Ending at Tower Bridge): The ultimate maritime adventure! Students will become the crew of a real sailing vessel, learning navigation, teamwork, and resilience as they voyage along England’s stunning South Coast. The trip culminates in an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime finale: sailing right up the River Thames. 
• ‘Day in the Life of a Sports Professional’ (University of Essex): Fuel your athletic ambitions and see what it takes to make it to the top. Hosted at the University of Essex’s world-class sports science facilities, students will experience elite fitness testing, sports psychology insights, and professional coaching workshops to discover the career pathways behind the world’s greatest athletes.
• WW2 Concentration Camps Historical Trip: A profoundly moving and educational journey into the past. This deeply impactful trip takes students to the historical sites of World War II concentration camps, offering a vital opportunity for reflection, historical understanding, and the chance to honor the memory of those who lived through the Holocaust.
• TV Production Day with Sky Studios: Go behind the scenes and run the show! Students will step into a cutting-edge media environment to create their very own television reports. Working with industry-standard cameras, green screens, and scriptwriting tools, they will discover the thrilling mix of creativity and technology that drives the modern media industry.

🏆 Flourishing Futures Awards Ceremony

The pinnacle of our programme is the annual Flourishing Futures Awards Ceremony. This special event brings together students, staff, families, and our generous benefactors to celebrate the outstanding growth, resilience, and achievements of our young people.

It is a night of celebration, reflection, and immense pride as we recognise those individuals who have truly pushed their boundaries, demonstrated exceptional community leadership, and embodied the spirit of a “flourishing future.”  Award winners will be chosen in all subject areas, as well as 5 ‘special award’ winners aligned to our school vision and values.  These awards are:

• PERSEVERANCE – The Durrants Award for Dedication.  Awarded to a student who is continually striving to be  their very best  – working  hard on self growth inside and outside of school. 
• FAITH – The Cranmer Cup.  Awarded to the student who we believe will leave a lasting legacy on HSA 
• HOPE – The Hipwell Award for an Inclusive Community. Awarded to a student who works tirelessly at making our school community, or the wider community a place where all can thrive 
• WISDOM – The Halesworth Golf Club Distinction Award. Awarded to a student who demonstrates Excellence in an academic, sporting, or creative field. 
• LOVE AND RESPECT – The Rosedale Award for Respect. Awarded to a student who displays care, compassion and empathy for themselves and others
