Operating for over 60 years, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is a nationally recognised award, providing opportunities for students to develop their resilience, sense of responsibility, teamwork and organisational skills.
The progressive Awards come at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and are all about pushing boundaries and gaining new skills while enhancing CVs and college applications. The award comprises four sections to be completed: Physical Activity, Skills, Volunteering and Expedition.
The Harleston Sancroft Academy has a well-established Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, the outdoor environment providing a natural classroom for students to learn and develop life skills, and every year our students have a fantastic experience and successfully pass their respective awards.
This school year will see Year 10 students take on the Bronze Award. Training for the expedition section takes place throughout the year and includes sessions on navigation skills, cooking, campcraft, and first aid. The practice expedition will then take place in the Summer Term.
