Student leadership

The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.

Denis Waitley

We have a number of student leadership roles at school where there are many opportunities for older students to mentor younger students to support them. We have vertical tutor groups, with a mixture of students from years 7 – 10. There are identified mental health leaders within these leadership roles, and can be identified by their purple ties. Older students support through maths and reading mentoring during afternoon form slots, working with identified students who need additional support.

Our school council provides students with further opportunities to develop student voice. Students are represented across all year groups and are encouraged to take an active part in whole school improvements. Our student voice is evident in new appointments made at HSA. Student panels are used and the student voice is heard and represented. We appoint Heads of school and a student leadership team. These come from elections held and student votes. This helps provide opportunities to further promote democratic values. For further information regarding the different roles and responsibilities, please click on the link below:

I feel valued as a member of staff. I like the fact the school has a clear vision, a vision that I feel a part of.

Every single person who works at the school contributes to who I am. It truly is a special place where we are all one big family.
